Life is not Fair

Life isn't fair. We use this term a lot over the little things in life, my sister gets an iPhone 6 and I don't "Mom, thats not fair", My friends all have something I don't have "that's not fair." The bible speaks of life not being fair in Ecclesiastes 9:11 and says "I also saw other things in this life that were not fair. The fastest runner does not always win the race; the strongest soldier does not always win the battle; wise people don't always get the food; smart people don't always get the wealth; educated people don't always get the praise they deserve. When the time comes, bad things can happen to anyone!" In that verse it says that sometimes things don't work out the way you want it to or the way you think is "fair" you could be the best of the best but still not win. For example, they use the example of the fastest runner doesn't always win the race. Complaining is found all over the bible like in Numbers 14:2 it says the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, "If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! They were complaining and not appreciating everything that God does for them like he does for us. They over exaggerate and say they would rather die. Typically, in big situations like that we realize the issues we have in life and what is unfair and we can't always answer them. However, the little things in life typically can be answered to why you don't have them, I may not have an iPhone 6 but that's because I already have an iPhone.

The harder things in life that are unfair are the ones that can't be answered so easily. "Why do I get food and water when people in poor countries get none of that" but we typically don't focus on the things that we are fortunate in and focus on what is unfair. We don't put much thought into the idea that some people don't have water and we are complaining about an iPhone. We as humans, typically focus on what we think is unfair and don't realize how much we have that's unfair to others.

In relation to the Bible, a very popular message is of Jesus dying on the cross for our sins but some people don't really think about what that means. Our sins our forgiven, ok. But there is more to it then that but people never really think about it because they are to wrapped up in the idea about what isn't fair but we never think about how what Jesus did wasn't really fair for him he took the sins of many, many people and nothing happened to them;they felt no pain. But he did it for a reason to save us because he loved us unconditionally, so next time we think life isn't fair remember that even though it doesn't seem like it now but that hardship is there for a reason, and it is part of God's plan for you.
